Megan's Wedding

Congratulations Megan and Brandon!

picture with all the nieces and nephews
we threw rose petals at the bride and groom as they walked to their car.
This picture makes me laugh because it looks like Emerson and I are getting our pictures taken together at Prom.

Funny story about this man I am pictured with here.  This is Leslie Bassett, the grooms dad.  It turns out that Leslie is my dad's first cousin.  His dad and my grandpa are brothers.  Leslie remembers my dad because they grew up living a few houses down from each other in Afton, Wyoming and he played with my dad and my dad's other brothers and sisters.  When we met, I was amazed at how Brandon's dad looked so much like my dad.  Even Graham's siblings said he looked a lot like my dad.  We got to talking and we found out we are related.  It's such a funny and small world.

All the Mitchell clan

Graham's sister Megan got married at the end of July at the Washington DC temple.  It was a beautiful wedding.  The wedding festivities began friday night at a meet and greet picnic with the grooms family.  Megan looked so beautiful on her wedding day.  Congratulations Megan and Brandon.  We wish you all the happiness in the world!

Happy Fourth!

The whole gang ready for fireworks

the fireworks from our roof

I hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth.  We had a fun filled day at the beach and then we came home to avoid all the traffic and the crowds before the fireworks.  After dinner, we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores in the backyard.  Then, we climbed on our roof and enjoyed the fireworks.  We had a 360 degree view of fireworks on our roof top.  All the kids really had a lot of fun.

Happy Birthday Emerson...Again?

Blowing out the candles

As soon as that pinata hit the ground, all the kids gathered the candies in a frenzy.

Atticus and Emerson really loved the frozen daiquiris

We had our friend make the cake.  It looked beautiful and yummy!

Don't be panicked or confused, you didn't forget Emerson's birthday.  Emerson's birthday is in December, a week before Christmas, but we talked her out of a birthday party.  It just gets too busy and crazy during Christmas.  We told her that she could have a half birthday party in the summer and she could invite her friends from school and have a swim party.  Well, that is what we did.  It was a beautiful day for a Hawaiian theme pool party.  We had the Beach Boys blasting on the ipod, everybody drank daiquiris, Graham made delicious teriyaki chicken and grilled pineapples and everybody sang Happy Birthday to Emerson.  It was fun spending the day with our friends and family.  Emerson's classmates thought it was really cool that she got a half birthday. We really like having her party in the summer.  I think this is going to be a permanent thing.

Picnic in La Jolla

Hangin' with Kendal

looking at the crabs and touching the sea urchins
enjoying the sunset
hanging out with Grandma

Everybody had a lot of fun while Grandma Linda and the cousins were here.  I think their favorite thing was the day we went on a picnic at La Jolla Coves.  The kids had a blast exploring the tidal pools and looking at the fish, crabs and sea urchins.  They also loved swimming in the ocean and snorkeling a bit.  We had a hard time dragging them away.  Hope to see you again soon!

Emerson and Kendal

At the Wave House

My nephew Kendal came down and visited us from Utah without his brother or sister.  He was thrilled to have all of our attention.  Eme and Kendal got along so well, no fights!  Graham and I took them both one day to enjoy a delicious rib lunch and watch the surfers at the Wave House. After we swam, played and boogie boarded at Mission Beach.  Then to finish off a perfect afternoon...ICE CREAM!

Kindergarten Grad!

Proud Family

"Yahoo! 1st grade here I come!"
So happy that my mom and my nephew could share this day with us.

I can't believe Emerson is finished with kindergarten.  She is going to be a 1st grader come August.  It makes me a bit sad that she is growing so fast.  She was so excited for the graduation ceremony.  She was thrilled that grandma Linda and her cousins made the trip to see her graduation.

May Update!

Atticus, trying to fit into his dad's shoes

He also likes mom's shoes
Emerson, at her mother's day celebration performing her salsa routine
For mother's day, Emerson gave me a "makeover" and dressed me exactly like her
had a "ruff" day!

It's been awhile since I updated the blog.  Life is passing by so fast, I don't know where the time goes.  I can't believe it is almost the end of May.  I'm going to blink and the holiday's will soon be here.

We haven't really been doing much but I just can't seem to get it all together.  I'm just getting over a sinus infection, Emerson is busy at school and she had a huge mother's day celebration at school, Graham, is busy at work finishing up the city budget and being stressed (what else is new) and Atticus is making more noise.  He doesn't say much but he sure makes a lot of monkey-like noises.  He is still calling Graham "mama" he says, "bob, bob" for sponge-bob, he says "ball" and a few other words.  He is also whining a lot more but I am hoping that is because he is teething and not his personality.

The biggest event of this month and the most expensive was our beloved first child, Putty had surgery.  He had two masses removed from his eyes.  While he was under anesthesia they discovered he needed his teeth cleaned and remove two of his incisors.  Well, $731.00 later, he is doing well.  His eyes are healing nicely, he is eating well and he is running into less walls with his e-collar.  We are all getting a nice laugh at watching him walk with his e-collar shuffling from side to side.

Take time to enjoy your life!  Enjoy these pictures!
